An electric motor has a handful of moving parts where a combustion engine has hundreds. That difference shows up directly on your service invoice.
What disappears
No oil changes. No oil filter, fuel filter or spark plugs. No cambelt. No exhaust or emissions system. No gearbox oil. These are the items that make up much of a conventional service bill, and on an EV they simply don’t exist.
What we do check
Brakes (which last notably longer on an EV thanks to regenerative braking), tyres, suspension, steering, the cabin filter, the cooling system, and a full diagnostic of the battery and high-voltage system, including its state of health.
Who does the work
High-voltage systems need training and the right equipment. Our workshop on Steve Biko Road is Dongfeng-trained and equipped for EV work, and we use genuine parts so your warranty stays intact.
The warranty behind it
Every new Dongfeng carries a 5-year / 150,000 km vehicle warranty, an 8-year / 120,000 km service plan (services every 24 months or 30,000 km) and 5 years of unlimited-kilometre roadside assistance. The battery, controller and motor are covered for 10 years / unlimited km for the first private owner (alternatively 8 years / 200,000 km; terms and conditions apply). That battery cover is the important one: it’s the part people worry about.
